Yes you can under certain conditions. It can be airborne (coughs etc.) or by contact. (handshakes etc). Hope this helps.

Have you had the pneumonia vaccination? As recently diagnosed COPD I was given mine yesterday. Not a 100% guarantee that I wont get it, of course, but it's purported to be better at preventing the more serious types of pneumonia than the childhood one.
I got a pneumonia vacc 15 years ago, and I've not had it since, and I've been around those who have had it. Still get chest infections, but not pneumonia.
That's promising Nowheeze. Worth the sore arm I've got today then .
Don't recall having a sore arm after the jab, but, yes, on reflection it was worth the discomfort.
Nursey told me what side effects there might possibly be and one was "your arm will probably feel as though it has been punched". Well, I'm happy to say it's not that bad but definitely tender to the touch at the jab site and a fair bit sore at the moment. Hopefully I wont experience anything else.
My Dr told me that you can contract either viral pneumonia or bacterial. I think, (although best check), that the pneumonia jab guards against the viral type, and antibiotics are given for the bacterial form.
