Oral thrush prevention when using Luforbec 4 times a day?

Due to virus caught from gorgeous Grandson, my asthma type over-reaction flared, needing Luforbec 4 times a day, plus oral steroids, and resulted in severe oral thrush, despite gargling and spitting. (Felt like like fish bones stuck in throat). Any other more effective tips appreciated please?

If it's not a powder inhaler, can you get a spacer? And if you are in the UK, go on the NHS site. I think they say gargle with salt water, when I last checked. My last resort is Nystatin prescription.

Thank you Phoenix. Yes I use Spacer and salt water gargling. Nystatin was prescribed thankfully. Throat thrush was so painful! Best wishes.

Yes, once it gets past a certain point, I think only medication works.

I used to buy the Daktarin Oral Gel over the counter, but the production of it stopped suddenly. Nobody seems to know why. I delayed getting Nystatin when this first happened and the thrush had started to move down my oesophagus and took much longer to get rid of. Lesson learned there.

I get thrush only when I take antibiotics. Canesten never works for me but this does and its gone in 24 hrs. Fluconazole Oral Capsule 150ml. Your GP can give it to you but also you can buy it over the counter. I think. You don’t want to be taking it regularly though so if its an inhaler that is causing it sounds like changing that might help. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. Think it's definitely the steroid inhaler, despite gargling and use of spacer. Kind regards, grotty lottie.

Just checking out the contra-indications for fluconazole, many asthma treatments are listed. Worth checking with a GP or pharmacist first.

I would recommend you to try mullein leaf amazon.com/USDA-Organic-Mul... . I started it because of my cough, but I noticed soon that it also helps from my dental problems, I guess it is something about mulleins strong anti inflammatory effect. These drops are easy to gargle, you may try it.
