I viewed the comments made on Luforbec, people being changed to it from Fostair, due to cost. They spoke about problems they now have with the use of Luforbec. I too was changed from Fostair to Luforbec and have similar problems of a cough on inhalation, (I use AeroChamber) thickening on mucous, hoarseness and low grade headache probably due to coughing.
I have been asthmatic all my life and know when my control is poorly managed as it is at the moment.
I except that both Luforbec and Fostair deliver the same drugs but the propellants volume may be different, I would suggest the organic propellant in Luferbec, Norflurane (HFA 134a) in some way could be the problem, A study in PubMed (1) stated more research needed to be done on the smooth muscle relaxing properties and to the volume of the propellant used in different inhalers which carry varied volumes of propellant. As Norflurane acts on smooth muscle this could be the cause of hoarsness and possibly thickening of mucous.
I'm presently trying to request I be represcribed Fostair by my GP.
I hope this helps others.
