Bit disillusioned with some content Just read a contributor asserting that Ventolin is a steroid. It isn't. Steroid Inhalers are Corticosteroids I would counsel that folk check facts before offering guidance. Noted a coue of misguided contributors already so I will just leave

Misleading Information
The moderators are actually very good at picking up on and correcting any mistakes, but this isn't their fulltime job!
It's a great place to come for support from others with the same condition, but it shouldn't be treated as a substitute for professional advice anyway, even if it were all correct. That's not how a forum is meant to work.
Hi Wodie. If you notice any information that is incorrect please use the report button. This will draw the moderators attention to it and they can edit or take it down.
Yes please do report if you see something like this. We do check but as Mandevilla says we are volunteers (or asthma nurses for ALUK who do this as a small part of their jobs), and we don't spot everything. It's very helpful if this kind of thing can be reported. Reporting doesn't mean a post or reply will be removed automatically, but we will look at it and consider what needs to be done.
You're also welcome to politely reply if you see something incorrect - but as Mandevilla also says, this is a support forum, not a professional medical website. Some people are very new to asthma and don't necessarily know much about the different treatments yet - they will probably learn more by being on here and by people nicely guiding them when they make mistakes.
Edit: just found the reply you meant and that's one I did spot and replied to correcting the misinformation. The poster still had something to share about their experience which may have been helpful to someone, though the incorrect information about Ventolin did need correcting.
I believe you are new to the forum. I certainly don't think you can judge the forum from one post that was a bit misleading. There is a great deal of experience that people share. It is not to give medical advice but support and a listening ear. The members are all very varied, from their heath issues, loneliness, anxiety etc etc.
Its sad you are judging the forum on one post that you could have reported because you knew it was not factual.
The moderator are excellent and I am happy to let them judge if a post stays up.
I think I remember the comment and wasn't it from a new member? I put it down to ignorance or confusion about different inhalers and left it at that as it had already been corrected.
Ventolin/salbutamol is definitely not a steroid inhaler, it is used for quick temporary relief when have a breathlessness period. Only some preventive inhalers are steroid base and it will state that on the paperwork within the box with the inhaler.
please do not leave due to one mistake by an individual every makes mistakes
Always good to check information shared on here, but I have to say that I have found the information shared and experiences invaluable in this group and it has been a great help to me managing my asthma.
Hi, You probably won't get this as you have left but you are missing out on the experiences of some incredible people who have a lot to offer.
