I just had a telephone consult with my respiratory consultant. As the steroid in my Seretide inhaler is thought likely to be the cause of my recently diagnosed adrenal insufficiency, he proposes to switch me from Seretide to Fostair as the steroid in that is less potent. I am seeing conflicting information online about Fostair as to whether or not it contains lactose (unfortunately, I only looked after the end of the consult). Could anybody confirm whether Fostair inhalers prescribed by the NHS contain lactose please?
Unfortunately, I am allergic to lactose, when digested at least. I suspect inhaling it would not be good, so if Fostair does contain lactose, we'll have to find another alternative.

I would definitely request the MDI (spray type) of Fostair rather than the powder. Perhaps a little search of Fostair website will give you the exact contents of all their products. Good luck
Note; I hooe Fostair suits you, I was changed from Seretide to It and everything has been marvellous since. I take the 100/6 MDI which is MART.
I would phone your pharmacist. They are the best folk to check out medications with, as they have to know everything about any medication they are dispensing.
GPs and consultants do not always have full knowledge, especially as there have been so many changes in inhaled medications.
