I have recently been put on Luforbec after using Fostair without any problems…I have experienced headaches, some dizziness and a dry thick throat feeling and basically not feeling well!…The only difference I can see in the ingredients/make up is ‘Maleic acid is used in Luforbec instead of Hydrochloric acid in Fostair…Something is not right, I did not expect these effects with a change of inhaler, - looking further, apparently these are potential side effects of Luforbec!…At the moment I am arranging another appointment with the Asthma nurse and will update here!….As explained, I never had a problem with Fostair and note that Luforbec is being manufactured in India to save the NHS cost,,,,,,

luforbec
they put me on this when I was originally put on fostair. The GP prescribed the generic drug not specifically Fostair. It was awful, coated my throat and made me cough so I could never actually inhale it. I had to ask the GP to prescribe Fostair specifically, not just the generic drug. Had no problems since.
You are not alone! I had very much the same reactions to Luforbec, but fortunately the staff at the (independent) pharmacy where I collect my medication are very approachable and on explaining my issues they now provide Fostair. No problems since. This is all about money as Luforbec is considerably cheaper than Fostair so if you are collecting meds from the GP pharmacy you are unlikely to get very far....
Update to my original post above about Luforbec!…After experiencing side effects from being put on Luforbec, I have been put back on Fostair by the Asthma nurse,, as said there is a difference in the acids added to the 2 inhalers, - Hydrochloric acid in Fostair and Maelic acid in Luforbec, if this helps anyone with a similar experience of being switched..
Hi did you have dizziness with luferbec as I am feeling dizzy all the time
I experienced a problem with focusing/eyes whilst driving, as previously said, never had a problem with Fostair,, - it is basically a cost saving exercise by the NHS, they source Luforbec from India because it is cheaper although they say it is the same as Fostair, there is a difference with one of the added acids, - to me, it is not quite the same, hence the experienced side effects!…..
I’m so glad I’ve found this post. I’ve been changed from fostair to Luforbec and have struggled to take it. It feels like an irritant is painful to breathe in and I get the urge to cough it out. My nurse has changed it back to fostair as my asthma symptoms have worsened but she insisted they were identical medications and made me feel like I was making it up!
They lead you to believe they are identical, but the ‘acid’ component is different on the product description, I pointed this out to my asthma nurse, she did not know this!…As said,I had no problems with Fostair but did with Lufobec!!..So was switched back to Fostair….Lufobec is made in India, the plastic holder feels cheaper and as said, there is a different acid component, - I’d like someone qualified to give an opinion on that,, bottom line is, it is a cost saving exercise by the NHS,, so make your own minds up folks through your own experiences!….
