Hi, I saw a post today mentioning about those with asthma applying for PIP, for help with costs and how it affects daily life. Im on a high inhaler, on biologics and antibiotics monthly and the odd course of steroids. I mean, were in July, ive had 8 courses of antibiotics and 4 courses of steroids already. I just wondered if anyone has applied and been successful? I find work challenging sometimes because of my chest, have appointments often because it gets bad, and it costs a decent amount everytime i have to get to the hospital. Just wondering if others have managed to get pip or whether its not worth thinking aboutThanks!
Pip for asthma : Hi, I saw a post today... - Asthma Community ...
Pip for asthma
Hi, I get pip for my asthma. I have a billion other things too but I also have severe asthma. I'm basically continually wheezy despite being on 8 regular meds for it. It's a weird form to fill out so you need to write things like if and how it affects your walking, getting dressed/showered etc. How it affects you when it's not controlled and how often that it etc. If you have drs/consultants letters/reports/reviews send copies too.
Hope that helps
Hi apply for the form if you find it too difficult ask citizens advice some groups offer advice or will help you complete the form. If you struggling with money due to health issues it applies to you. I know many who claim for asthma, stress, anxiety etc. Good luck. My friends granddaughter at 17 has received this for stress. Action aid filled her form in. She received £3000 back payment and gets about £300 a month.
Hi,If your life and mobility is effected by your asthma like ability to walk, cook, clean, personal hygiene, getting dressed, use of Aids to help you in every day life I.e pill boxes, walking sticks, etc.
there are also the co-mornidaties that go along with the medications like from long term steroid use which in itself can cause health problems like weight gain, high blood sugar.
so every element of your life is questioned in about 20 sections where you explain how you are effected. and remember you may have 5 good days out of 30 days so you have to explain that when completing the form.
I receive pip and have a similar health background as you but also a lot of other conditions ultimately caused by the asthma and the medications so now on like 40 different meds a day for all the conditions I have.
so yes you can get PIP for most conditions dependant on how they effect you so it is worth applying as you have nothing to lose.
the citizens advice bureau can help you fill in the forms which you have to be brutally honest with as it is no time to put down thing like but I can walk fine when in reality it might be you can walk fine 2 days out of the month.
hope this has helped and if you have any questions I am always happy to tell my experience.
Good luck
