I went to the lung function unit for some tests yesterday ,talk about punishment .After many attempts at blowing down the tube , it was decided my problem lies with exhaling through phlegm and inflammation, but good lung capacity.

Inflammation reading should be 40 or less mine was 76,there lies the problem said the nurse.

She was asking if i take a phlegm busting tablet and if not speak to my doctor

Im already on

Fostair 200/6

Montelukast 10mg

Spiriva respimate

Easy haler

Does anyone know what this phlegm busting tablet could be ?

I have heard of people taking Carbocisteine. I have no experience of it myself.

Carbocistine is a "phlem busting tablet" ... its only purpose in life is to break down mucus, make it thinner and easier to move (less sticky)

Bless you, I also do Hypertonic saline that's for busting mucus too the consultant said to me "it's really really salty and will draw the mucus from every orific in your airways and make mucus a lot less sticky and much much thinner"

Hi Nanto4I dread having lung tests...they leave me exhausted!

I am on Carbocisteine. I think these tablets help to keep the mucus soft.

not medical advice, but i take Guaifenesin. it's otc, and seems to not have side effects. talk to your doctor; he may have other advice.

Carbocysteine '- it thins the mucous, making it easier to get up.assk to see respiratory physio to advice u on how to clear the mucous. Meanwhile u could read up on lung clearance techniques on ALUK - active cycle of breathings usuallly recomended to begin with twice a day.it will help x
