My sister has been having trouble with shortness of breath and a cough all week. She rang gp on monday. He said it could be a chest infection or it could be her asthma. He sent her 5 days worth of steroids which she finished tomorrow. She is not much better. It looks like ringing gp again on monday.

Sister not well
Sorry your sister unwell. Are you able to check her peak flow or saturation? You could have a guide from these to see whats going on. Did your Gp not give antibiotics with steroids? Don't wait until Monday if you are worried ring 111.
Such hopeless way to treat a patient. An over the phone diagnosis with these symptoms is clearly not good enough, had your Sister had a face to face visit to the surgery the diagnosis may well have needed a course of antibiotics. This seems to be the new way with the GP's and always for the better. I wish your Sister a full recovery very soon and hope she gets the appointment to visit the surgery when you next call.
I agree, absolute rubbish to just hand out a convenient medication without listening to her chest. I am actually shocked by this.
Your sister needs to have her chest listened to. It's unbelievable that this hasn't happened to someone with asthma! For comparison, about a year ago I called the gp surgery to say that I was unwell, having shortness of breath and that I was worried. The gp called me back within an hour where I listed my symptoms and he asked me to come in for an examination. Does your sister have a peak flow monitor?
Hope dr sees her.has she done a covid teat x
