I’ve been recently approved to commence tezepelumab, and I’m interested in other people’s experience as it seems to be quite new?

please let us know how you get on. I assume you are in Europe or the US as it’s not been decided who will get it in the UK. Unless you are on a trial. I am hoping to qualify for this.

No I am in the UK! Under the Guys asthma team. Not on a research trial as far as I’m aware! It does seem very new though, can’t find a huge amount of patient experience about it, hence me asking here!

Please keep posting about this. I was told it wasn't going to be fully approved until next month. Tezepelumab got general approval in the UK last year, but apparently NICE cant make up their mind who will qualify. My consultant is trying to jump me through the hoops to get this but he still doesnt know if I will qualify. Can ask if you have high esophills?

Thanks

Yes I do have raised eosinophils but not massively although I have been >0.3 in the last 12 months.

I think the advantage of tezepelumab is that it’s not reliant on a specific bio marker, which is helpful!

Not currently on my consultant suggested I read around it and that we give it a try if things aren’t under control this spring /summer

after spending nearly 3 weeks in Brompton my consultant told me he wanted me to one of the first for this treatment which should be available sometime in February.I had a call from Brompton on Friday to say they are having a meeting on Wednesday and I should know by the end of the week

Hi, I had my injection at guys Monday, she seemed quite hopeful it would help. Ive had constant chest infections and asthma attacks for 3 years and really hopeful it will help. Had no side affects after the first jab and i think she said it would take a couple weeks to start kicking in. Theres good information about it from the states, so fingers crossed :) im sure she said its not available currently on the nhs its through, i think it was called patient services or something like that. I got approved early December and she rang a week and a half ago saying they could book people in who were on the list already, suprised it was that quick!

Just to update this thread:

I had my first injection this week and it was fine. I’m under the patient access scheme.

how are you feeling now after a few months on it? My consultant recommended I try it yesterday at our appointment.

I have had four injections in total. I’ve noticed I don’t need my salbutamol as much and I’ve remained off prednisolone so far when unwell with e.g a cold. So far I’d recommend you try it!

thanks! Yea I’d really like to be able to use less of my steroid inhalers (though I know they didn’t look at that in the studies, just oral pred use)

Any side effects so far that you’ve noticed?
