Fostair finished and can't get any until tomorrow/Covid too

I have Covid and was taking my Fostair as prescribed by practitioner nurse. Today I noted it was empty. I have still got my old Budesonide and Salbutamol left from when I switched over in October. Can I use this until I get supply tomorrow?

I’m unable to answer your post - as I’m not medically trained. However, May I suggest that you call 111 - as they may be able to help you - or they can check with a duty doctor for you. Is your inhaler on ‘repeat’ prescription ?? On my consultant’s suggestion, I always order my meds a week before they are due - to ensure I never run out…. Hopefully, you will get things sorted.

No, they have not updated my script yet but been on Fostair since October! Chemist won't give me it unless it's on computer - which it hasn't been done yet.

Will your chemist let you have one if you tell him/her you've ran out and you've ordered it but it will be at leastva couple of days.

They might let you have one if you ran out of inhaler

In my non-medical opinion, you could definitely use the Salbutamol because that should always be available as a reliever inhaler in case the preventer is inadequate. Since the preventer has run out, it won’t be adequate by definition, so the reliever is the only option. The British National Formulary (bnf.nice.org.uk/) gives the appropriate doses.

Hope it gets sorted out for you tomorrow, but I wouldn’t worry about using Salbutamol in the meantime.

Thanks, I eventually got a doc who told me to take old steroid and salbutamol. Got new Fostair today via NHS111.
