if you'd read my previous posts, you'll know I badly pulled muscles and naproxen triggered my asthma.
it's been 2 days since I stopped naproxen.
I have congestion but it is just my left lung.
this is the side I injured...and I was unable to cough, breathe deeply or yawn or lay down when I got injured for several days.
anyhow....this congestion is right at the bottom of my left lung...I do have a bit of a productive cough...but when I bend over...it feels like the lung is being squashed and I feel this strange sort of gushing sensation.
I'mjust wondering if, because that is the injured side and I wasn't able to cough for about 5 days...could I have got mucous stuck in there?
it's far fetched...but I even Googled partially collapsed lung!
I know you can't give a diagnosis obviously....but I'mjust concerned why one lung is congested...particularly the side I pulled my intercostal muscles. Can you get one sided congestion with asthma?

Yes, you could have mucus stuck in there. Someone on here was talking about one of these flutter devices that you blow into against a restriction, which gently eases the mucus upward, enabling you to cough it out, that might help. You can buy them from amazon. Also hang over the bed, with your head down, and get someone to pat your back over the affected lung, quite forcefully, although it shouldn't be painful, that will mechanically dislodge the mucus. If it is mucus of course.
I am at the moment recovering from pulled muscles over my ribs which did originally upset my asthma and costochondritis. However in your case, given the involvement of only one lung, I wonder if you have considered whether you might have pleurisy? Hope you soon feel better.
Could you phone an out of hours service like 111, just to check if they think a doctor needs to see you? The gushing sound is worth a phone call, not being able to breath into a lung properly can start chest infections/pneumonia. Hugs.
I think I'll get back to the docs on Monday. My throat feels really dry from coughing today. my rib muscles are hurting, as I overdone it yesterday. Before getting up this morning...I could feel that gurgling under my ribs. It stopped each time I held my breath.
the day I injured myself...I'd woken up with bad indigestion pains and I had a really bad pain below my left ribs.
I done some stretching, as I thought it was trapped wind. Then I went and moved some garden furniture....hence injuring myself.
so I still can't fathom what is wrong with me.
I think best thing I can do is get back to the doctors on Monday.
I was surprised she never suggested a chest xrax
I'll have to just make sure I tell them everything
Before your appointment on Monday write everything you should say on a piece of paper. I usually find best to do a series of bullet points. Not entirely surprising chest X-ray not suggested. I’ve had some very serious chest infections but not required an X-ray.
