I’ve got a cold for the past few days. I feel ok at the monent, but previous colds have ended up affecting my chest. I know what to do if it does set my asthma off, but I’m due surgery on 29th September. I’m worried now that this cold could possibly delay my surgery (which I’ve waited month for). Is there anything I can do to shift this cold or reduce the chance of it affecting my asthma? Or anyone had any experiences of having colds prior to surgery!?

I wonder if the anaesthetist would be unhappy to anaesthetise you with a cold. You may well be better by the time of your surgery though. But if you’re still unwell with a cold virus a couple of days before I think I would telephone the secretary and let them know so the surgeon and team can decide.
