Bad day today

Hi guys,

I work in Customer Customer Service in a very large office with approx 150 other people. Answering telephone calls is a major part of what i do but today i have really struggled. In the space of 2 hours i had 3 choking episodes that lead to me being out of breath and struggling to get myself together again. I think i have used my blue inhaler more in those 2 hours than i usually do in a whole day. It was so embarrassing. Luckily my Supervisor was able to relieve me from phone duties for the rest of the afternoon.

Does anyone else get these sudden attacks or is it just me? 😔

Good morning JAM1AM. Perhaps it's time you had a check up with your condition if you haven't had one for a while. Either with your doctor or Respiratory clinic. Hope you have a better day today. Brian

Hi Jam. I agree with Bingo, you definitely need to see your doctor or asthma nurse. When you phone for your appointment, tell the receptionist that your asthma has declined to the point where you have to take your rescue inhaler several times & are struggling with your asthma symptoms - should get a same day appointment. You definitely need additional asthma treatment right now, maybe a course of steroids.

My asthma used to be like this and the slightest thing, even a sneeze would bring on an attack where i would be fighting for breath. The aim of asthma treatment is to keep symptoms under control and to aid your day to day health to the max. Having symptoms, like the ones you've described, suggests your symptoms are far from controlled.

sounds like it could be connected with your vocal cords again. Speech and language therapists have exercises for helping with this. They told me that speaking on the phone can be a trigger for some people because on the phone, people tend to speak more quickly and breathe shallowly.
