Sinutab and Fluticasone?

I'm new here and not sure how any of this works so apologies if I'm not posting this in the right place. Does anyone know if you can take Sinutab and Fluticasone at the same time? Fluticasone was working for me but in the last week my head pressure has returned. Normally I would just pop some Sinutab but I don't know whether to do that or not.

Any help appreciated please!

Thanks :)

Welcome. The best person to discuss medications with is your pharmacist. Any pharmacist can advise on contraindications but your own/regular pharmacist who knows you well would be best person to advise.

On these sites we are people who have a variety of medical conditions but are not medics or doctors. We give advice based on our own experiences. Here there are asthma nurses who can be phoned to ask advice on specific asthma issues.

Hi. Ask your pharmacist as been suggested but it seems as is you are in severe pain with sinusitis. Both medications are used for this one oral and one a nasal spray I think both different ingredients. Go and make an appointment it sounds as if you need antibiotics to settle this if your sinusitis so severe, its awful pain. Good luck.

I agree about talking to your pharmacist about mixing prescribed meds with over the counter treatments. However, over the counter decongestants should only be taken for a short while to treat one off nasal congestion. But it sounds like you are prescribed a nasal spray, suggesting that you have a long term condition. Unfortunately, Sudafed, Sinutab or Otrivine can cause rebound symptoms if taken regularly or often enough (more than a week).

If your symptoms are particularly bad and the Fluticasone isn't providing the relief you need, then seek further treatment from your doctor or ENT specialist. They can prescribe additional treatments depending on the cause of the symptoms. They can also check your nasal spray technique.

I suffered for years with nasal polyps and any long term nasal congestion can be so uncomfortable and can really affect sleep and daily life. You have my sympathy, without doubt.

In the meantime you may find some useful info on nasal spray technique here: youtu.be/LOhmsn4gQMM Vik Veer is a NHS ENT consultant and has made some very useful videos about nasal health.

All the best.

Hi Poobah, thank you so much for this amazing video. I will check more videos from Vik Veer, so happy the way he's explaining. I just had the first Covid vaccine and I took for 2 days paracetamol after feeling slightly the symptoms of a cold. I'm quite worried for the second one because the symptoms might be stronger and longer. Though I don't want to go through the same dreadful symptoms as in January. God bless ❤️

I'm glad the video was helpful. I had flu like symptoms after my first vaccine but a headache (24 hours) after the second (both Astra Zeneca). No reaction to my 3rd shot (Pfizer). But my relatives who have had Moderna have all had horrible reactions so when I get my 4th shot this autumn I shall try and avoid Moderna. All the best. 🤗

Thank you Poobah for getting back and confirm these things. Actually the pharmacist told me it's better to continue with the first vaccine and that would be the Moderna because slowly they will run out of Pfizer which I decided to take finally. I preferred AstraZeneca but I'm glad now that you confirmed it was better to have the Pfizer. Afterwards I read about not to change the vaccines after the first one but to keep on taking the same, though trials are still ongoing, so actually I don't care which one but to stop having any kind of such symptoms which reminds me about the awful time I had in January. I try to keep fit and do exercises and keep an eye on my weight ( which is extremely difficult), but here we are. I feel that keeping fit and keeping the weight under control is contributing extremely much to the overall health.Feel like at this age, 60, the body takes under control my whole life as if it's a different entity and I need to be very tough to make things going in the direction I want and not the body. That means discipline and resilience. God bless❤️
