Antivirals

Hi All, I tested positive on Wednesday via LFT so sent my priority pcr which came back Thursday as positive. Told I would be called within 24 hours regarding anti virals. 40 hours goes by and nothing. I then called my GP who said no point calling us you need to call 111. So I called 111 and after another 10 hours and 3 phones calls later I received a called saying I’m going to be prescribed either a infusion or pill type which did I prefer I opted for the pill form. Great! Then received a text saying my pills have been prescribed and the hospital pharmacy will contact you about the drugs being dispensed to you. Fast forward another 24 hours and still nothing back. Who do I call to chase this up. If they say you can collect I’ll gladly sort that. My symptoms are slowly getting worse and fear in a few days time if it carries on at the same rate I might need to visit the hospital. I totally understand the NHS is stretched as it is but having 3 different people call me and ask the same questions is that really the best use of time?

Hi, Sorry to hear you have covid. Me too came down on the 1st was in hospital on 2nd and I received the anti virals but also had a second visit to hospital this Friday but am finally feeling better today!

Also sorry your GP was miss informed they should have put you forward to whichever local hospital hub (mine being St George’s) for the anti virals as well as telling you to call 111 who would also do the the same but they can only be administered within 4 days of symptoms and a positive test. As they are less effective the further it goes.

The only way to chase it up would be to call back 111 go through the covid part of the system and ask them what’s happening.

I’m really sorry the system isn’t working for you and that you aren’t feeling well.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for the message I have since been in touch with the pharmacy at the hospital and apparently they are sending them out I did offer to collect but they said it’s best to deliver. Thank you

Hope they arrive soon and are effective. I heard they are helping pretty well, generally so far.

I imagine they’d rather people with Covid didn’t go in to collect it, could be why they said about delivering.

Thanks they have done ok, no real side effects that I can think off. Starting to test negative now. But the biggest thing is after Covid seems to follow this sinus infection, I read a few people mentioning it now might or might not be related. Thank you
