Biologics Start Next Week! Tezspire

After a few exacerbations and too many GP visits I saw my wonderful specialist and team on Monday and just received a call saying I have been approved for Tezspire :)

My injections start on Monday and I'm hopeful/positive and happy.

I'm 73 next month and had bad asthma when I was a child/early teen and then it all went away but now is back with a vengeance.

If anyone has anything they'd like to share with me please do!

D😜

I feel for you. Similar story for me: asthma as a child and you adult which then disappeared for 30 years before recently coming back. Somewhat slowly at first but over the course of 3-4 months has become very difficult to control.

I’m on symbicort 200/6 x 4 puffs a day plus spiriva respimat (LAMA) and still not controlled, where 6 months ago I hadn’t used my ventolin for years.

Best of luck with the biologics!

Well done on your approval for biologic treatment! I'm in a similar situation, childhood eosinophilic asthma Which was usually very well controlled until about 5years ago then it went haywire with 5/6 hospital admissions per year and constantly on steroids, then my specialist told me in June he was putting me forward to be accepted for biologic treatment, 2 weeks later had an email saying my delivery will be arriving 2 weeks later with an appointment from the homecare team, they came twice to administer benralizumab and on the 3rd I was confident enough to do it myself. I'm now on 2 monthly injections, I've had 1 blip! since being in resus in September again. But hopefully our biologics will reduce these attacks and the awful side effects of steroids. I feel very lucky to have been accepted due to the huge cost of this treatment and fingers crossed for you 🤞💐

I started biologic therapy this year (benralizumab for eosinophilic asthma) They worked brilliantly for several months, I felt so much better but have been suffering a decline lately. I have other conditions, bronchiectasis, ABPA and haemophilus colonisation so it is likely to be one of these causing me problems.

Good luck, I'm sure you will find they make the world of difference to you.

Hi...I was 60 when I developed Eosinophilic asthma. I was tired all the time and had so much inflammation in my lungs...plus monthly steroids.. Now, I walk 4 miles with the dogs per day, lost some weight, never had a steroid in 3 years since being out on FASERNA. Let's hope it gives you a new lease of life because it's a game changer. There's a good Biologic Facebook group.

I really can't wait! I do take Prednisolone for polymyalgia and am on regular 7mg maintenance dose per day. That's fair enough I just feel awful when I'm upped because of asthma exacerbations. I love walking and loafing in the fresh air. D

Im 69 and likewise have had asthma since childhood. This last 18 months i have been hospitalised 4 times. I started on Tezspire amd it has been a gamechanger. Within days I felt so much better. I've been able to reduce my salbutamol from 16-20 puffs a day to 2-4. (Still take symbicort). After months of waking up 3-4 times a night needing salbutamol, I now sleep 8hrs undisturbed. For me its been a miracle drug. Good luck, I hope its the same for you x

great news ilovesun! I started Tezspire 8 months ago. Took 3-4 months to make any noticeable difference but all good so far.

Its all to do with enviroment, depends on where you left. Im in and out of hospital, can hardly leave the house, but went to Barbados, as soon as i stepped into the country, i knew it was different, my breathing was normal. Never needed inhalor once when i was there, because i had a rest, was good when i came back for a little while
