Panoramic test for covid antivirals

Hi, 4jabs and shielded for 2 years but then my husband caught covid. I tested negative 1 day and positive the next. My GP said I probably wouldn’t be eligible for anti- virals, that there are no respiratory conditions on the list, but she’d put me forward anyway. I then had an email asking if wanted to take part in the Panoramic test for home anti virals so I’ve signed up.

I know some members have registered with them before but has anyone actually taken part?

I’m very achy and tired, coughing a bit and wheezy. My respiratory consultant had told me, if I catch it, to start my prednisolone so I’m doing that at 40mg pd. My husband’s symptoms have been worse than mine, raging sore throat and loss of taste ( he only had 3 jabs) so maybe the 4th jab has helped. I definitely don’t want to be back in hospital with this!

Take care all.

Personally I would grasp the opportunity of antivirals if offered.I had (wrongly) assumed I would be offered antivirals because I was sent a priority PCR but subsequently is is doubtful I will. This has worried me because whilst I may not meet their criteria I know I can start with a simple cold that turns into a serious chest infection (pneumonia or pleurisy) which can make me seriously unwell for months🙁

Me too. I’ve signed up but the criteria even for the test is very tight, eg within 5 days of testing +ve. As mine was a Friday I might miss out just for that

Yes this is what I don’t understand about removing people who react badly to catching respiratory viruses off the anti viral list?

I put up my own post about being refused antiviral meds. My asthma is infection driven, so I ended up on Prednisolone and doxycycline. Day 12 still positive! Why respiratory was removed is beyond me. I'd only just finished a 11 day course of prednisolone 5 before getting Covid.

So sorry, hope you’re feeling better. It’s horrible that the only drug they have for us, pred, is so immuno suppressant.

Yes it is and like you say such a shame. I already fall into this category, yet I was still refused antivirals. You have to be Immunosuppressed to get the drugs as in taking drugs to stop a disease. I know it does not make sense. I could have argued my leg off if had not have felt so rough.

Some people remain positive for a long time after initially infection. However this doesn’t mean you are still infectious! After 10 days you aren’t infectious any more so no need to keep testing.Hope you feel much more.

Just needed to test because we are due to meet up with friends tomorrow. I know Im not infectious, but its still not right to send your photo with the red line. So I have just cancelled. Another day is another day. I am feeling better now thank you. PF finally picking up too.
