Hello, I have started montelukast 10mg 2 days ago as had tight chest for a while and got worse past week. I still feel tight but definitely less than 2 days ago. How long will it take to take full effect please? I'm seeing a respiratory specialist this week so hopefully will get more help with my asthma in general too as it has been hard and makes me feel depressed how I'm struggling atm. Thank you.

HiyaI find Montelukast v helpful and have been on it for at least 6 years

(Along with other medications)

Definitely an important part of my prescription

I think it took several weeks to fully kick in but your asthma nurse will know all that

Good luck

Thank you for your reply x

It took about four or five weeks to fully feel the benefit for me. Side effects settled down after a few months and been on them nearly two years now. It is worth persevering with them! Main side effect I get is vivid dreams, but not very often.

Hi I have been on montelukast for years and find it very helpful alongside other meds. I found it took several weeks for me to start getting benefit from it. I would persevere a bit with it and see what happens in the coming weeks.

Thank you for the reply

I started it 2 weeks ago and already find it brilliant.

Keeping my fingers crossed I don't get any side effects.
