Since I got covid last July my asthma has got worse and I have had to change my inhaler to double the dose. I am also finding that all of a sudden every time I have an alcoholic drink I get breathing problems which has never happened in the past. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. TIA

We can develop adult on set allergies unfortunately. In your case covid has triggered an intolerance to alcohol. Beers and wines are the common culprits and some people can still get away with drinking gin or vodka as they're low in sulphites and histamines. I avoid all alcohol, much easier in these days of a wide choice of soft drinks. You may also wish to avoid preservatives & sulphites in processed foods. If you Google sulphites then you'll see how widespread their use is.
I was the same with Asprin and Ibuprofen, no problem for years and suddenly there was quite a serious problem, triggers can come and go quite suddenly with no warning 😩
I agree with Poobah. Also - In general the respiratory system can become sensitive to things at any time - especially if it has been irritated/traumatized by illness. And sometimes the body makes decisions to overprotect us…..Quit drinking alcohol, is the body’s message.
If you’re lucky enough to find them available, Aldi do a couple…some organic wines don’t contain sulphites.Otherwise an online order from a place called “vintage roots”. … they do low sulphur and no sulphur wines, quite expensive £9 bottle + but worth it
