Peak flow and COVID

Has anyone experienced a drop in peak flow with COVID?

My peak flows have been within 8% of my personal best of 660 (predicted 640) for 3 weeks without asthma medication.

Last Thursday, I noticed my peak flow had reduced to 570 which is a 15% drop and I had cold symptoms. By Monday, I tested positve for COVID.

I was advised by my GP to recontinue with Fostair to recover from COVID then start again on my peak flows without asthma medication.

I found a study which states that 33% studied patients with covid had reduced peak flows but didnt say how much by.

5 days now I have been at 550-570 (personal best is 660). chest pain

My peak flow dropped by around 20% when I had the initial infection. This was the case for around 2 weeks but it has bounced back up again, almost to normal now (week 5). I did not need to use my ventolin but did increase my steroid inhaler (flutiform) as I had recently reduced the dose. It’s worth remembering that everybody experiences the effects of this virus quite differently. I was lucky that it did not seem to go to my chest, although I did get the typical covid cough and associated chest pain. Hope it doesn’t get too bad for you - give it time, you’re still very early in the infection. Take care.
