Teeth cleaning

Just read an interesting article which I thought I’d share.

I have always cleaned my teeth immediately after I have taken my inhaler. Apparently, according to this, this is the wrong thing to do as it can effect the enamel on your teeth.

Anyway, here it is:-

That's very interesting! I recently learned that we should never swill out the mouth with water after brushing as it dilutes the positive affects of the toothpaste, just spit. And never use mouthwash after brushing - always wait a while. So this article is saying, brush after meals and swill with mouthwash after inhaler use. Got it.

Or even plain old water

Not with dry powder - it takes something a little stronger (lactose in the inhaler mix). But whatever works for your oral hygiene.

What’s classed as dry powder? I’m on Symbicort now.

Oh my goodness!! I’ve been cleaning my teeth after inhalers morning and night for 40 years! No wonder my teeth are rubbish!! I was told to do this to counteract oral thrush. Thanks for sharing x

When I had a dental emergency last year I had to attend the hospital clinic and they told me the same.

They said oh they're not still giving out that advice are they, you should never brush your teeth after your inhalers.
