Has anybody been prescribed roflumilast and if so how difficult was it to get and does it work etc ...
I'm getting pretty desperate and have tried everything else .but my consultant seems content to just carry on with inhalers and pills which seem to do nothing for me I've had bronch\asthma for years .?

Hi I tried this drug about 3yrs ago. It was prescribed on a private script by my cons as it was not licensed by the NHS for asthmatics at that time. I’m not sure if it is now??
Anyway I paid about £55 for a months supply of tablets. It was easily to get with the script via my normal pharmacy - I just obviously had to pay the private rate.
I’m sorry I don’t remember all the details but it didn’t help my asthma so I gave up taking it. I think I also had some bad side effects too.
It is worth a try - you never know it might be your wonder drug. I think it does work for some asthmatics but I think is usually prescribed for COPD related problems.
Apologies for my wishy washy reply but I don’t remember all the details - hopefully it is of some help to you though!
Thank you for your reply. I feel I've got to try something as the existing treatments seem to do very little.I see my cons in 3mths and will push for this or the biological treatment
HiI have to say I have been on Benralizumab for about a year and a half and it has been amazing really…. Give the roflumilast a go but don’t turn down a biologic if you get the chance!
Hi pipsqueak77I've tried for biologic but was told I didn't tick all the boxes even though I do have uncontrolled asthma and a high eos count. And was reminded by my cons the costs involved.
How did you manage to get this treatment maybe I could try again.
HiWell yes I guess I jumped through all the NHS hoops to get the Benra. I was lucky I didn’t really have any problems with ticking the right boxes. There are very strict criteria including eos count, number of previous exacerbations and oral steroid use. However I have to say my cons was very pro-activ and helpful and certainly didn’t go on about the costs! Maybe worth a second opinion as I think it’s really important to have your cons on board and fighting your corner and I definitely think some are much better at this than others!
