Symbicort and heartburn

I was diagnosed with asthma in March 2021 and prescribed Symbicort. Lately I have had such horrible debilitating heartburn. Anyone had such experience? Please help

If the heartburn has only just started it's likely it's unrelated to the Symbicort. But maybe try taking Gaviscon regularly and see if it helps.

Hi there, sorry the heartburn is so uncomfortable. Unfortunately it is common but I agree with twinkly not related to your meds. There are lots of posts about heartburn on here and it is a painful condition, and may include reflux. For me, it is linked to the menopause although when my asthma flared up after twenty years in March 2020 it got worse, but again not the meds. I found constant nasal breathing helped ( which helped reduce the amount of Gaviscon etc) and simple breath holds, just controlling my breathing better etc. I really hope you feel more comfortable soon. Please seek advice from your asthma nurse to help you feel better, all the best

I also got the heartburn feeling but it's linked to GERD which comes with my type of asthma and I also have bad rhinitis. I changed my diet to mostly fruits/veg/wholemeal dash type diet and it has helped. Maybe you can ask your doctor about GERD in case you might have it. I take symbicort but had the heartburn a lot before I started taking it.
