Interval between first and second dose of AZ

Anybody knows the interval between the first and second dose? Is it between 8 - 12 weeks. Longer gap at 12 weeks is better. Due to a mess up by NHS website I had to reschedule my appt through my gp at 10 weeks? You would believe NHS cancelled my appointment and there are no records of me being vaccinated on the system.

I'm not quite sure what you mean exactly with the timescales but I think the 12 weeks thing is a guide. Or the one they were using. Many people I know have had second vaccines brought forward from the 12 weeks - I think they're sensibly getting on with those while they've got this few weeks of supply "issue" for first doses.

So if they've brought yours forward, I'm sure it's fine. If that's not what you meant, apologies!

The bizarre thing is they haven't got record of your first. It should be on your GP record. But do you have the card they gave you when you had it?

Minimum gap I am told is 4 weeks up to 12 weeks. It was not brought forward since NHS system cancelled mine still do not why and no records even with gp ? The second one was arranged through gp. That's the slot I was offered. I have only got card as proof. I am having the vaccine at another local location gp hub. First one was done by pharmacy2 you..

If so then that's good - but obviously the weird hassle to get there was not helpful in the slightest!

Hubby rang 119 because he was approaching 12 weeks & hadn't heard anything. According to NHS records on the website no appointment had been made for him, although someone who rang him from the NHS about something else said it would have been. Anyway he now has an appointment with 3 days to spare before the 12 weeks is up.

By the way has anyone who is going to a clinic at hospital had to have a covid test? Hubby is having to have one as he is due for an infusion at the hospital but even though he has one every 4 weeks this is the first time he's had to have a test first.

I know of people who've had to have them before procedures. I don't know why it's changed for him this time but it's common to have to have them.

Yes you do before procedure. Before the hospital accepted diy test by post now the other hospital insisted it should be done at the hospital three days before procedure or they will accept the fast test result in a test centre. Do you know how your husband going to have the covid test?

No, just that it's a drive through centre, so I suppose that means it will be one of the more accurate tests.

A drive through centre its that where people with symptoms of covid gets tested? I see no reason why they do not accept diy test bybpost. It is safer in your own. I know somebody who had to make a special trip to the hospital for the test 60 miles journey return.

Yes I’ve had two. Quite straight forward and results come back very promptly. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks we're not actually worried about it, but he has a blood test at the local hospital & then has to go 20 miles for a covid test & 20 miles back just so he can have his infusion at the same hospital as his blood test. It seems crazy to us, although we do concede that a blood test takes a couple of minutes & his infusion takes about 20 plus waiting around to pick up his meds. Then the day after his infusion he's got another 20 miles to go for his jab & 20 miles back. It's a good job we're retired, we haven't got time for a job!

It does not make sense. It is ok if you have transport as well. Dont you have local drive in centre where you live?

I have had the same problem, I contacted 119, and. Managed to get my second one. The gap for me was 11 weeks. I now have to try and get the first one on my record, all I have is the vaccination card. It did cause a slight issue when went for second vaccine, but the guy at the vaccination centre was amazing. Good luck

I am glad you had yours but system said I have cancelled my second appt at 11 weeks. Feel sorry for cs as there is no way she could help. Was asked to book appt miles away which I declined. Was only be able to get another appt at a local gp hub through gp website with the help of a person who sees to the vaccination there. Got an email from him saying they will manage the system to show both. He was fantastic . So will be having second one at a different site. At least I have a record but will anticipate it will still cause some issues on that day. It's one week before. I had the AZ is it the same dose you get? There is a fault with the system and have lodged a complaint as I had spoken to 5 cs and now could help and asked me to rebook miles away. I think the issue is if you book with NHS but no issue if invited by gp to book.

My husband has not heard about an appointment for his second vaccine which is due. Our local surgery has a notice on their website to say not to contact them about vaccines, although he was told they would be arranging for his second shot. Today’s brain teaser.

If your husband booked his appt through gp, he should get a txt from them soon. If it is going to 12 weeks I would ring surgery and ask. With gp I was told they will leave it at the last moment to inform you. My friend was told a couple of days before to book her appt. With NHS booking they usually book both at the same time. Hope you get it sorted.

We have been trying to speak to GP surgery on phone since middle of last week but constantly engaged. Have now sent them an email. If have not heard in several days will try 119.

Yes I did and that's the only proof I have got to show I did have my first vaccine.
