I was wondering the same thing , the weather is so lovely & sunny here, would love to go & sit or potter about in the garden. If not allowed I wonder if I can sneak into my summerhouse

I got that message too, take care xx

I think you can go out in your own garden. The link advises us to “get out into any private space, keeping at least 2 metres away from your neighbours and household members if you are sitting on your doorstep”

Great, I live in a detached bungalow & have already been self isolating for 2 weeks, apart from yesterday when I dropped my big bottle of oxygen on my foot & hit my shin so went to A& E, got xrays not broken but will take time for skin to come back on foot. I need fresh air !!

Wow, someone actually advises you about what to do, based on your asthma severity. Here in the US, we’re just left to figure it out on our own. I have severe asthma, frequently uncontrolled, with 2 hospitalizations in the last 12 months. The doctor told me if I got flu this year it would be very, very bad BUT I couldn’t have a flu shot because I wasn’t strong enough yet in mid- January. I’m back on another pred taper and I take Dupixent biological. In my state, you have to be in the hospital before they’ll let you test for CoVid 19. Our number of infections is low because they won’t test anyone! It’s scary. I’ve been in my house for about 2 1/2 weeks.

You would be advised to stay self isolated for the initial 12 weeks if you lived in the UK (this may be extended). Hope you can access grocery and pharmacy services online and have your goods home delivered. Or have friends or family shop for you and leave on doorstep. We're talking full isolation.

Stay safe and well.

Thanks, Poobah. I’m still trying to shake this asthma flare. Every time I go down on the prednisone, the symptoms come back. And, I just haven’t felt well, either. But, no fever. We’ll see how tonight goes.

Do you take any inhalers in addition to your pred & Dupixent? Sounds like you need to keep up the pred and taper very slowly and gradually. I'm wondering if you have a steroid inhaler to help - taking that more as you taper.

Self isolating can be a challenge if you have no one nearby to get your groceries and meds. But as you're on pred long term it's important that you adhere strictly to isolation with goods dropped on the door step.

Our supermarkets are providing an hour at least twice a week for the most vulnerable to shop in safety and to access things before they're stripped from the shelves by others.

Over 500,000 people have volunteered to undertake shopping, fetching meds, phone chats, transport to hospital etc for our most vulnerable group of 1.5 million. It's organised centrally and currently volunteers are being checked before they are cleared to help. Volunteers will receive tasks by a phone app.

I know certain religious groups in the States are very active in serving local communities in times of need if you need additional practical support.

I haven't heard a thing, but reading the information that Asthma UK have posted I meet at least one of the criteria for shielding, as I am on Fostair MART 100/6 and have also needed two courses of steroids since Christmas... Perhaps I need to chase up my GP! My work have advised me to stay home for the next three months anyway. Thankfully my husband has been working from home for the last few weeks as he has an underlying medical condition - while I am busy doing some spring cleaning he is tapping away on the computer 😊 I hope you stay safe and well xx

I emailed my surgery last night regarding registering for Patient Access and they replied first thing this morning. So if you can't get through on the phone try emailing.

Thanks, I will try - hopefully I get more success getting through to them than I have had trying to log on to some supermarkets!

Don't talk to me about the supermarkets. Not sure the shielding group are going to be able to access a priority system for ordering groceries unless they were already regular delivery customers.

I have been trying to get through to a certain supermarket since Saturday morning. I had to re-send the query and finally got a response but not the actual help I needed 🙄

My friends and family live a few miles away so I thought if they did my shopping I could meet them in supermarket car park in order to load shopping into the boot of my car. No different to me having to pick it up off the doorstep and would ensure that people didn't get fatigue at having to keep driving to my house, especially when they are trying to support different family members. I could pay them using online banking.

It's obvious that supermarkets won't be changing their delivery system for only priority cases. Can't blame them as they need to retain loyal customers.

Sainsbury is supposed to have a specific helpline for those who have to self isolate. 0800 328 1700.

They are prioritising the vulnerable group. However, I can't get through as it's permanently engaged.

If other supermarkets aren't doing the same then poor old Sainsbury will be overwhelmed.

I note that various MPs are taking to Twitter in order to contact supermarkets on behalf of vulnerable constituents in need of grocery deliveries.

I may have to go shopping. 🙄

Thankfully I had an order already in the system which is coming tomorrow evening, but trying to tweek it has been almost impossible! Don't know what will turn up, but have had offers from various folks to get items if needed. Hope you get things sorted 😊

I called my GP practice now to change pharmacy to an online one for the time being and asked as according to the asthma uk email I'm on the list yet not received a letter or text so was wanting to clarify so I know where I stand and they said they cant tell me as it's not done by them so no idea if I have to stay in it if I can pop out for supplies.

I think it's best to err on the side of caution. Perhaps a friend/neighbour could help?

I got my text too last night and was wondering about the garden. Stay in doors but you can open a window. It was so lovely yesterday I don't want to be cooped up completely. I can sit far enough away from neighbours as we're detached. Our biggest problem is getting shopping. Can't get delivery slots which means husband has to go out too many times.

Stay safe stay well everyone x
