Tmi but I've just brought up a lot of mucus for about 10 minutes with constant coughing. I have started a stronger and new inhaler after an asthma flare up two weeks ago. Is this good? Is this my lungs bringing up all the bad stuff from the flare up?

If the coughing persists then that may not be good, but if the cough was just to clear the existing mucus then that could be good and be a short term affect. There is a way to clear phlegm from the lungs to avoid lots of coughing whereby a huffing technique gets the deep seated phlegm up into the wider airways which can then be cleared using minimal coughs. Physiotherapy vids for clearing phlegm can be found on YouTube.Rinsing and gargling after every use may help reduce the coughing just in case the inhaler is irritating your throat.
If the coughing is not avoidable and persists then have a chat with your asthma nurse or doctor. Using a spacer may help and your asthma nurse can arrange for one to be prescribed (not possible if a dry powder inhaler).
