Hi I need some advice they've changed my steriod inhaler nearly two weeks ago from the brown one to fostair nexthaler as I'm still struggling with my breathing and had two asthma flare ups due to blood pressure pills. I was wondering when should I see improvement in my chest? How long does it take? Just don't wanna go back to my asthma nurse too early and she say I need to give it longer 😔

The average kicking-in time for preventer meds is about 8 weeks - it'll start kicking in from nowish I'd have thought as you've been on it 2 weeks and build up to full effectiveness from there.

This post might help as it gives lots of info on inhalers:

Hi,

Did you change your blood pressure tablets if they were making your asthma worse?

While the preventer part of the fostair may take a few weeks to work the formeterol should be helping with the everyday asthma symptoms. If you're still struggling after two weeks then I'd definitely go back and talk to your gp or asthma nurse. You may need oral steriods to calm things down.

Hi, I had two different ones and then stopped them completely as they both affected my asthma. Thank you! I'll get an appointment tomorrow.

My asthma consultant changed me from Ramipril (I had been on Amlodopine) to Losarton for BP as he said other BP medicines aggravated asthma. Have done well on Losarton; no cough or wheeze.
