Skin reaction to Spiriva?

Has anyone else experienced skin problems with Spiriva? I've been on it for just over 2 weeks and over the past 5 days ish my skin on my face feels almost as if I have hives - bumpy, red, hot and very dry. My skin is usually great and clear, but it's just terrible right now, my lips are dry and cracked and now split and bleeding on one side, which doesn't seem to want to heal πŸ™„ I really hope it's not the Spiriva as it's massively improved my symptoms, but I'm worried it could be. I'm also on Montelukast and AirFluSal. Thanks in advance for any info 😁

I would suggest you speak to your GP and get advice.

I am not taking it now as my asthma control improved and I dropped that out but I did for about 3 or 4 years alongside montelukast and symbicort without any issues.

Have you had any other symptoms - tiredness, fever or raised temp etc?

Have you been anywhere you could have been exposed to a virus or anything else?

Thank you, glad to hear your asthma is more controlled. I'm hoping I may be able to drop it too 🀞 It was added in as following Covid and pneumonia, as I then developed another infection a few weeks later and was really struggling. Thankfully asthma is feeling a lot more controlled, but my skin has flared. No other symptoms, just skin on face flaring. Could just be a coincidence. Will check with GP/asthma nurse in case, but thank you for your reply πŸ™‚

I have taken Spirvira for a few years and never had side-effects. Cracked and bleeding lips could be a sign of dehydration or a sign of congestion. Have you tried allergy medication and tried drinking more liquids?

Thanks for your reply, glad to hear you don't experience side effects. Defo drinking enough and I take allergy meds every day. Could just be coincidence, but will check with GP πŸ‘

On Spiriva 2 and 1/2 years ago and got very dry skin, prescribed creams/ointments and had blue light therapy, still on creams/ointments but it’s improving.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing dry skin, it this down to the Spiriva then do you know? It just seems a coincidence that my skin (especially on my face) has always been great and now suddenly it's really struggling. I'll check in with GP/asthma nurse in case they can recommend anything. Thanks for the reply πŸ‘

It started on my face then legs, arms, neck, chest, had to practically paste myself with cream/ointment daily.

Oh gosh that's awful, I've noticed my hands are quite dry today, so maybe it is the Spiriva. Did you stop using it because of side effects?

Stopped using it immediately the dry skin appeared on my face.
