Prednisolone side effects

Hello! I feel like this might seem like a slightly random question but does anyone else find that taking prednisolone for asthma causes constipation?

I have severe asthma and have fairly frequent courses of prednisolone which works wonders for my breathing but I always find it bungs me up a lot. I’m careful to eat well and drink lots and move as much as my asthma will allow but it never seems to make much difference. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem on prednisolone? I’ve never seen constipation listed as a side effect but never have this problem when I’m not taking pred so beginning to wonder if I’m just a bit odd!

Hello there 🌺😃 I definitely believe that it can cause constipation. I always have to eat a lot when taking them but I also wait a bit before taking them after food. I would call your GP to check it out if you should stop taking them if it gets not better. Hope you will get better again. Stay safe and warm 🍀🍀🍀

I can only suggest more fibre in your diet. It's certainly an unusual side effect! You need to ask your GP or the asthmauk nurse for a proper verdict.

I never had that effect with pred. Try steamed spinach with a good dollop of olive oil and some lemon. Works for me.
