Post Covid recovery - struggling

Struggling post discharge. Bad day yesterday. Struggling to manage my asthma at home and coping with a major fibro flare. GP has arranged for me to borrow a sats monitor for 2 weeks to make sure I don't need readmission to hospital. Currently needing 10 puffs of Salbutamol before taking Fostair and Spiriva to get my PF to an acceptable level. Also struggling. with medication side effects. Now have an upset tummy. Feels like what little I am managing to eat is going straight through Me. I am feeling a bit low today as I am virtually bed bound, only able to make it out to the bathroom. Frustrated with how long my recovery is taking.

Hi

Sorry to hear this but glad you’ve recovered enough from covid for home now.

Please keep your GP in the loop regarding your asthma and seek more help if it’s needed!

Sending you hugs and hope that things get better soon

Thanks, will do. Have to monitor my sats X3 daily and check in with the surgery every couple of days. My fibromyalgia flare up and medication side effects are not helping. I started on a new medication called Betahistine (for vertigo) whilst in hospital and I think body is just adjusting. I also had a fall whilst I was in there due to being weak from Covid and the Covid triggering an existing vertigo condition that I have had for the last 4 years. The physios treated it whilst I was in hospital and It seems to have helped. Think my body is just in shock at the moment. Need complete test and time to recover. Hopefully whilst bad at the moment my asthma is just about stable enough to avoid another administration.

So sorry to hear that you're struggling with covid, asthma & fibro to boot. Probably a good idea to to take electrolytes if you're struggling with hydration.

When I was ill for several weeks with sickness & diarrhoea I also turned to Ensure Plus protein drinks (300 calories per small bottle). When you can't face food they're a godsend as you need to keep nourished in order to recover. I ordered mine from Amazon as I couldn't venture out to the shops. They come in fruit or chocolate flavours. They also contain a variety of vitamins. They're most palatable straight from the fridge.

On the asthma front you could have a chat to Asthma UK and ensure that your asthma meds are safely maxed out in order to support you. And ensure you've got a good stock, especially of Ventolin.

And when you can face it, a supplement of VitD3 and magnesium malate will help with your fibro and maybe with covid (doctors are learning about VitD3 & covid and more research is needed but NHS now prescribing it to extremely clinically vulnerable group).

I hope you start to feel well again very soon. 🤗

Thank you for your advice. I will try the things that you have suggested. I have lost over a stone in weight in 2 weeks.
