I got a text but like you no letter as yet. However, watching a Downing Street briefing the other day, Boris said to shield. I can’t say what the situation is in the devolved nations, as I don’t watch the briefings.I expect shielding will last until mid Feb at least, maybe even late March.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking but would be nice to know so I can let my work know as they are still open I feel like shielders are constantly waiting

I expect it's as long as lockdown continues for.

They haven't yet even updated the online gov stuff for shielding since this announcement never mind sent out the texts, emails, etc. Which is really helpful for people who need the info for work (one would hope that, as most of the CEV are well versed in shielding now, it would be taken as definite until the letters come out....but some workplace are less than helpful it seems).

Anyone who is CEV and was in Tier 4 already before this announcement will have been told to shield but I imagine that date will be extended to be in line with the lockdown.

But we all wait to hear...

I have been shielding for 11 months so far and my wife has not been able to work all that time so she does not give it to me being a support worker. It's cost us a fortune this virus. Good job i can work from home otherwise, don't know what we would of done as they won't pay my wife furlong because she is able to work. great eh.

To be fair no one can say when lockdown hence shielding will end. Am just pleased that because I am CEV will get inoculation sooner. Shielding/lockdown will end when figures etc are ok.

Hi I shielded the first lockdown and then went back to work in September and now I’m shielding again as cev I’m wondering as the letters normally give you a date my recent one is 18th so work are expecting me back on the 19th (I’m a nursery teacher ) but not sure if I’ll be off longer I’m thinking it might be till we have the jab

Am sure it will be longer than 18 January. If they not considering schools return until mid February.Maybe speak with your manager and explain you not in a position to say when can return to work.
