Looking for some advice.

Hi all.

Looking for a bit of advice really.

I've been on athsma med for about 28 years. My brown steroid preventor stopped working about a year ago without me realising , so after quite a few chest infections and anxiety related asthma episodes I swapped to forstair. Asthma wise, it is very good but I feel my throat mucus has thickend and now often have the urge to clear my throat even though there isn't enough to cough up.

Has anyone experienced the same with fostair?

Should I try a different inhailer? or put up with this side effect as my asthma is under control?

What other inhailers would you guys recommend?.

Many thanks 😊

Hi, I am on Symbicort Turbohaler and like you have to constantly clear my throat. Feels like there is mucus there all the time. It is not sore but it is tiring and probably annoying for people having to listen to me. The tip I was told was to clean your teeth or rinse your mouth with water after each dose. It hasn’t helped me but seemingly it stops your teeth getting damaged.

Thanks for the response karate.. yea, wife is getting irritated by the constant need to clear it now lol. I've heard the swilling/have a drink/brush teeth, as well as using a spacer helps, but none are working for me. I think it must be an ingredient of the inhailer that is irritating part of my throat causing the increase or change of mucus consistency. No inhailer apart from fostair have caused these type of symptoms, and it started a few days after swapping. So strange.

I hadn’t realised it was the inhaler causing this, but I do find it’s worse if I don’t exercise and drink plenty of fluids

I was told to rinse your mouth then gargle for at least 10 seconds, then swallow twice. Works for me, but I know how individual we all are.
