Hi
Can anyone tell me what their first appointment was like at the Royal Brompton? I have been referred but no appointment yet. I have non-allergic brittle asthma. Just want to know what to expect. Thanks

Hi
I had my first appointment at the Royal Brompton for Xolair injections.
The staff there are professional and empathic.
Unfortunately I’ve only been 3 times as I’ve been doing the injections myself due to the lockdown.
They video call every month to see how I’m responding and I’ve rang the asthma nurses for advice on a number of occasions, they are helpful, kind and knowledge.
Good luck, please let us know how you get on.

Hi
My first ever appt there was not really any different to an appt with a con at my local. I think the only difference was I did spiro 😅😂. As far as I can remember (this was June 2017 😅) it was spiro, followed by talking to a reg about my symptoms, triggers, history etc and them then putting me forwards for a difficult asthma protocol (where they do multiple tests, and you get seen by different depts to rule in/out comorbidities and mimics which may be aggravating and complicating the picture). I may or may not have had blood tests at the end of that appt.
I’m not sure how/if they are doing DAPs atm (as for me it was an admission) but that’s basically it.
Hope this helps, but the first appt really is a ‘getting to know you’ kind of appt
