Hi all, this is my first post, although I’ve been reading with interest . My question is do any of you find that anti histamines (loratadine ) make your asthma much better ? Also does anyone know if it’s ok to take on a regular basis TIA 😊

Initially yes over the counter antihistamine worked well and I took it all year. Now I need a stronger antihistamine and am on fexofenadine which is POM in the UK but can be bought over the counter in Europe.

Yes. I've been taking it every day now for years. I have a problem with rhinitis, which it seems is quite common in asthmatics, and also nasal polyps (which I take sprays to try to keep them in check). Loratadine will help stop a runny nose, which makes you breath through your mouth thereby bypassing your bodys natural filter, which intern leads to microscopic crap getting into your lungs... basically. So I'd say keep taking it. It can only be good for your condition.

Thanks 👍🏼That’s a great help, I also have perennial rhinitis. I’ve been using beconase nasal spray for around 15 plus years as prescribed by doctor, I don’t know why it never occurred to me sooner to take antihistamine also 🤦🏻‍♀️😁

I take loratadine for hay fever and it definitely helps my asthma. Currently taking 3 tabs a day as advised by my GP as it’s harvest season which makes my hay fever much worse. GP says I can take up to 4 tabs a day if it’s very bad. Also use avamys nasal spray. Loratadine is the only antihistamine I can take that doesn’t make me drowsy.
