Hi everyone, new here I moved to symbicort last Friday, after clenil/montelukast failed to control my symptoms, and it has been working wonders for my breathing.
However, when cleaning the mouthpiece last night (with a dry tissue), I accidentally twisted it, and I just wanted to check whether this will impact the effectiveness of the turbuhaler?
The instructions say "do not remove or twist the mouthpiece", so I guess it's not ideal, but then why is it even possible to twist it...?
Any advice/experience appreciated, as I don't want to lose control of my symptoms again
Thanks in advance.

Same here. It's actually quite easy to twist, especially when removing the cover for the first time, so the manufacturer must have thought of that and taken it into account
Thank you both! That is reassuring. I have actually had to use my ventolin a couple of times today, but quite possibly a coincidence. Frustrating though, as I was ventolin-free for the first 4 days of using it!
Hi I've been on it for years... Don't worry about twisting error... How many puffs are you on... The odd extra one won't harm you... If you need an extra dose.
I'm on 2 puffs a day (1 morning, 1 night) - 200/6 dose.
My asthma nurse mentioned that I could use it as a reliever too, but it seems unusual to me.... because aren't you getting extra steroids as well with each puff?!
But good to know you do it without any problems thanks again for your reply.
I'm on 4-8 puffs of 200/6 per day... I always been told to try and manage it at 4 puffs/day but up to 8 when needed... Done it like that for years but since covid out break told to take it spaced through day rather than just morning and night... ie use it as a reliever so it cuts down ventolin/sabutamol.
Bear in mind most people in general feel more anxious at minute therefore many asthmatics will be less stable as you can't but help think about breathing. 😉
