Measuring blood oxtygen

Has anyone tried using a fitness tracker to measure blood oxygen levels? I noticed a lot the new ones do that - are they helpful for asthma? Which ones are best?

I have an oximetry? that I use to measure my oxygen levels. It is one of those you clip onto your finger. I can’t remember how much it was bit I got it from Amazon. It seems to be pretty accurate.

I use an oximeter when unwell too. Very useful to remind me to deep breathe to raise sats. Takes pulse too (but then so does my old fitbit).

Thanks. i've just ordered a new Fitbit and hope it measures oxygen levels. If not i'll by one of the oximeters.

Fitbit only measures O2 levels when you sleep and even then doesnt give you a specific number, more just tells you if there are high variations during the night or low variations.

Maybe night-time variation might be interesting to monitor so I'll see when the Fitbit arrives. I've also seen a cheap fitness band the Honor 5 measures individual measurements of oxygen when you put your finger on the button so maybe I should have bought that one

I've also purchased one of the oximeters from Amazon after seeing someone (on here, I think!) mention it's well worth having one to monitor oxygen status in the event of being infected. It's hard to guage accuracy, the numbers do hop around a bit, but my husband and I have both tested it while well and over multiple readings just to see what's normal for us.

I have a Garmin vivo active, it does pulse oximetry, the pulse rate is ok, it is most of the time the same as the finger pulse ox I have, but sometimes it is completely off, but I have found that means I need to clean the sensor on the back.

The sp o2, generally reads 5 - 10% lower than the finger pulse ox I have, but it is a good indication of the trends rather than an absolute.

Thanks very much. I've bought the Fitbit now but my husband was thinking about the Garmin so glad to hear it's OK, not that he needs to check his O2.
