I have been put on Foster nexthaler 2 puffs twice a day. I went through the literature provided and it says you cannot take alcohol and that it may cause diabetes. It also says it is safe for use by pregnant women and nursing mothers as well as children.
Can anybody throw some light on this?

All steroids run the risk of causing diabetes something to do with their effect on the liver/ adrenals
Also alcohol is a respiratory suppressant so probably not good for asthmatics anyway... having said that I've definitely had a few alcoholic drinks on fostair (but I don't like being drunk, I get terrible hangovers)
Chip
I have drunk alcohol on fostair and I had no problems but I can't drink on my montelukast as I have been informed alcohol and montelukast doesn't mix. I have to stop my montelukast for at 48 hours before drinking alcohol and I have to wait 48 hours after drinking alcohol to restart the montelukast
The way to look at it is that alcohol is another drug. And some asthmatics are allergic to the sulphites found in beers and wine so there's not only a drug cocktail to consider!
