I was feeling all positive that I thought I might be getting a solution to my severely allergic asthma Xolair was mentioned and I am now doubting the fact that I might not get on it, am I just being negative?

Thank you x

Hi

It’s basically saying that the nurse/registrar (assuming reg here) thinks you’re eligible for xolair but the consultant has to agree (so needs o see you), then he has to take it to panel to be approved (that’s if you’re at a specialist hosp)... if you’re not at a specialist hosp the MDT will be with a special hosp (most likely) for referral to them for the drug (unfortunately the process of getting a MAB can be a long one...)

But it’s not saying they don’t think you need it or aren’t eligible. Help that helps

Thank you for that it puts my mind at rest as I’m so desperate for something to help x

This was the same process I went through before being approved for Xolair so don’t worry 😊 The last step was approval from the MDT (multi-disciplinary team) board meeting which my consultant took my case to.

Yep this is the same process I went through before I started Mepolizumab. It’s a long process with lots of boxes to be ticked before your case can go to MDT. My consultant was amazing and very thorough to make sure every test had been done prior to MDT. I’ve now been in it for a year and it’s all worth i feel fantastic. Keep positive 😊
