Severe Asthma clinic

That sounds great.
My local secondary hospital spreads all the tests over a couple of months. It is a right pain.
Whereas my local tertiary does similar to where you are going. It has you in for most of the day, and tries to do all the tests, see the medic etc, there and then.
Best of luck with it.

Hi trace58, they do generally try to fit everything in on one day including tests as people may have travelled quite a distance. This is why it takes a while.
They really should have given you some information, but if they haven't, you could try contacting them to ask for more information including what to bring and what they might do. And also ask if there's anything you need to prepare, for example if they want you to try and avoid using your reliever for a few hours before a test, if you're able to. (If they do ask something and you can't do it, definitely say so to them).
You might find this post handy about what happens at a severe asthma clinic. The person who wrote this isn't at Wythenshawe and they aren't all the same, but it should give you some idea. healthunlocked.com/asthmauk...
Best of luck with it, hope they're helpful!
Wythenshawe is supposed to be the best in north West snd also treat cystic fibrosis.better to go+ be thoroughly assess to get correct diagnosis+ treatment .all the best x
Sounds sensible, my first tertiary appointment was across 4 hours, they squished all the tests into one visit, saved them and me time and travel, I had spirometry, full bloods, allergy skin test, inhaler technique check, asthma plan updated, and then I got to see my consultant, it was like a very good, very well oiled machine, I can't gush enough about how wonderful clinic 2a at Addenbrookes is, absolute 🌟 each and every one of them, I feel immensely lucky to be under their care, they've literally saved my life and sanity x N
Hi it might be because its a different hospital so they want to do a full examination and lung function test if its the full one that takes a long time as there is so much involved. Part way through they may want to do a reliever test which means you have to wait a while between tests.
