Introducing myself!!! Im new! - Asthma Community ...
Introducing myself!!! Im new!
Welcome you will find these people here are a lovely bunch
awwww thank you for replying i really hope so i have severe anxiety and I'm petrified off getting judged haha but I'm trying to push myself a little out my comfort zone
I started out here 4 years ago with lots of questions. People were so willing to help me and in turn I have tried to help them.
So ask away
Awww thats really nice. My main concern what really gets to me is that I'm newly engaged and he constantly worries about my severe asthma cuz my father passed away from an asthma attack and i don't know how to reassure him and make him worry less
How about he rings asthma UK helpline. The nurses are willing to talk to people about not just about physical health to do with asthma but our worries too.
0300 222 5800
Whatever your concern, speak to our team of expert asthma nurses by calling our confidential Helpline on 0300 222 5800 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
that is so kind and helpful. thank you so much i will definitely tell him, I'm thinking about making him join the community
You could ask him. It would be interesting to have relatives on this forum. I sure they have their questions too.
Welcome to the community. You (and he) are both welcome. Then he can post his own worries/concerns/questions without upsetting/worrying you. And any questions yourself fire away (or if you just need to rant) 😉.
PS AUK helpline is very good (for either of you if you have concerns)
Awwww that you that is so kind I'm sure he would love it as he barely has any support and I'm not always sure how to help. He also panicks about worrying me incase it upsets me and causes an asthma attack. I do have a question I'm concerned about though. lm newly pregnant (6 weeks) and i was wondering if asthma will effect my baby oxygen if i have a asthma attack
Congratulations.
Usually asthma shouldn’t affect oxygen to the baby because our sats only drop when really bad. However, I have limited experience in this so maybe a new post/thread will turn up better answers. And defo worth talking to your GP/nurse about when you see them
I am sure he is not alone as I think partners and family often worry about our health, I know my husband does. It can be hard for them to know when they need to be 'worried', as in, need do something to help, or what to do help!
Maybe show him some of the information from Asthma UK about managing asthma and what to do if you have an attack. Perhaps you can talk it over together so that you both know what your asthma action plan is.
Hello. You will find a very supportive community here. I joined a few months back when I had my first severe
asthma attack in 25years (sadly I’ve had a few in the last few months). We post about our concerns and questions but we also post about funny things that have happened when we’ve been ill. A couple have had me crying with laughter and made my poor lungs ache!
Hi and wellcome I'm not on here alot well u check out the posts daily but don't say much great bunch of people it's like having extra family
Hi worrier96 😃 I'm new to this forum too and I'm also hoping to learn some stuff as well as share. What's your story then?
Ignore my question worrier 96, You already answered it 😂 you can tell I'm new on here I hadn't seen the rest of the thread.
Hi & welcome. Anxiety and asthma can be very closely related & I think many of us have had issues one way or another. Congratulations on the impending baby as well - if you need to get yourself in training, I'm sure we can arrange for someone to call you at 3am & scream loudly down the phone
Hello and congratulations. I'm new here too. Lots of helpful people on here and asthma UK help are just great.
I've even had a ice cream night in with Junglechicken when she was wasn't feeling good and I was on a low eb too.
Ice cream was amazing! How are you feeling Blue-Breeze?
Better thank you and you? Yes ice cream was amazing it helped a lot 😊
My PF has stabilised at around 82%. Had a bit of a scare on Sat when I passed a market stall that was selling incense and had some on display burning. Instantly tightened and was a bit wheezy for the rest of the day but it cleared eventually. Ok though 🙂
It's horrible when things trigger of our asthma. My husband used a muscle rub he'd used before. I had to lock him in the conservatory😭. I was really bad... Poor thing wanted to help me but couldn't.
Glad you settled down
awwww i am so sorry
Thank you. It's really a guessing game at what triggers me off
same. i was at university today and i was writing an essay and i had a asthma attack then
Hope you managed to finish your essay?
Not sure if your the same. Some days I can tolerate the smell (as long as it's not strong always a no) other days it's a full blown no and the chest gets tight and I'm short of breath
Congratulations and welcome! 😁
The most important thing with pregnancy is to really make sure you keep on top of your normal meds and keep in contact with your GP/asthma nurse etc about the state of your asthma. Especially as pregnancy can change how your asthma behaves. But it sounds like your partner is very helpful and supportive!
Hi welcome, i only joined a few months ago but i love reading the posts as its helpful knowing you are not alone. People are very supportive and kind. Learned loads of things about asthma and now know anxiety is nothing to be ashamed of.
