Hello Guys.. So I am new here and I was diagnosed with Asthma In March. Up until now it has been under control and I have been dealing with it quiet well but for the last few days I have been having this issues where I constantly feel like I need to take a deep breath but I can't? It's the urge to yawn but I can't always yawn and take a satisfying breath, Also my blue reliever inhaler doesn't do anything to help with this. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had or still does also have this issue?

Struggling for deep breathe?
Hi, welcome to the group. New symptoms or changes to your symptoms and you are probably best getting them checked out by your GP or asthma nurse. Do you use a spacer with your inhalers as that can help?
Take care
The symptoms you describe there (with the fact the blue inhaler doesnt work) sound more like stress. My partner gets those exact symptoms.
Everyone has said to me 'It's because you keep thinking about it' etc but honestly I think I am going to go be seen about it anyway, even if my asthma is fine because I will still be given a clear mind then and if it is anxiety/stress it should calm down then.
I had this and it’s the worst! You don’t know if it’s asthma or anxiety! However when I spoke with a consultant, he said that I needed to build up the medication in my system so he upped my Fostair to 2 puffs am & pm. After 6 months once the symptoms disappeared he lowered it again. So I would suggest speaking with your doctors/asthma nurse on your medication. Also do you have an aero chamber?
Hi.. Thanks for the information ! I'll be honest I didn't take my preventer inhaler for 2 weeks as I was on holiday and I forgot it at home, Really bad I know. I am supposed to take one puff in the morning and evening but if having more of it worked for you, this may be what I need to! I hope so anyway. I'm thinking about going to the drop in centre to see someone about it this week and Yes I do have a chamber
I think it’s your asthma then! These were the symptoms I had which is how I got diagnosed! And it got the point where I was constantly trying to yawn & take deep breaths and found it really distressing! Maybe double up for a couple of days to help reverse any inflammation - speak to an asthma nurse first though for advice! And remember to always take your preventer as instructed x
You describe my symptoms/experience exactly. Since it doesn’t fit the ‘normal’ description of asthma I have also had doctors suggest it’s anxiety but for me that’s not the case. The long acting drugs are essential in keeping it under control. The short acting (albuterol) don’t do much for me. I’m on symbicort and have really improved since adding spiriva. I have also identified some triggers. It’s very frustrating. The yawning thing is so annoying and a lot of asthmatics don’t have that. Sometimes it’s just so helpful to hear you are not alone.
