Still feeling short of breath after 1 week. Will i ever be back to normal?

I was hospitalised for few days and was diagnosed with allergy asthma - blood test shows high ige reading.

Previously 2 puffs of symbicot and i will be fine but now taking it does little or nothing.

The doctor recomend that i use spirivia 2puffs once a day, symbicot 4 puffs morning and 4 at night.

I got my first xoliar shot 2 days ago.

I am still feeling short of breath constantly.

Will i ever be back to normal ? This is the first time i got an asthma attack so bad and lasting so long and i m getting desperate.

Please advice.

Hello 😉 It really can take months before you get better again it takes time.

But I would go back to speak with my GP maybe to change the medication.

I had been in hospital 2 years ago with a asthma attack, was in for 2 weeks. My oxygen was low and got steroids and antibiotics. It was after Xmas and I got better after two months to get back to normal again. Sometimes your body needs longer to heal special with asthma and if you are older. I have severe asthma and I am always out of breath easyly. So if you are unsure speak to your doctor or get in touch with the asthma nurse on this website here there are always helpful. Hope you get better again soon. Take care 🌺🌺🌺

Melnel has the right of it. I’ve had pneumonia in May plus 3 asthma attacks in June after 30 years of mild asthma and I am just starting to feel better now. I completely understand your desperation and anxiety. I’ve been living in constant fear for the last month of another attack, so much so that I didn’t want to move from my bed. An asthma attack in terms of mental trauma is equivalent to a heart attack. I was beginning to think I was never going to be well again but after a few medication changes I am slowly clawing back control. Don’t loose hope you will get there but it will take time.

I will be getting my forth xolair dose next week and so far no change.

I was actually diagnose with severe allergic asthmas and blood test show very high IGE reading at 1400.

From what ive read some people start feeling better after few weeks and some few months.

I understand it may take some time and im still hanging in there and hoping to get better soon.

Thank you for your kind words.

I was told that xolair normally takes about 3 months to build up in your system and that some people can take 6 months to respond.

Although I didn’t improve enough when I was on xolair to stay on it I’d say I noticed a difference at about the 3 month mark

Hi Js706, were you diagnose with allergic asthma?

How long were you on xolair and what is the alternative for you?

Yes I have allergic asthma. I was on xolair for 8 months altogether.

Currently I’m waiting to hopefully have bronchial thermoplasty done as I don’t qualify for any of the other biological therapies
