Good luck with it. Some people on here have posted their success stories after treatment with Mepolizumab. I am still waiting for my assessment for treatment with Mepolizumab despite being assured by my consultant almost 3 years ago that I would get it once approval from NICE had been received.

You’re one of the lucky ones..so all the best with it and please do look at some of the Mepolizumab success stories on here. Good luck👍👌

Hi, I've been on Mepolizumab (Nucala) since May 2017, I had 1 asthma attack after 2 weeks, probably due to being taken off Omalizumab (Xolair) in February waiting for the Mepolizumab to come in.

I was swapped over from Omalizumab as I seemed to be going downhill after a bout of pneumonia 2 years before and the Omalizumab was becoming less effective.

Since I started on the Mepo, I have managed to stay off preds, and not only stayed out of hospital but not lost a days work while I have been on it.

When I have had a cough or cold, I have been able to fight through them with OCM like everybody else. My FeNo tests have all come down to normal levels >20 from a start of 84 I was also put onto Fostair 200/6 which helped get my peak flows from 400-450 up to 470-520 three or four times a week rather than once or twice a month. I am still taking Montelukast, although there is talk of them taking me off it, I did stop taking Uniphylin when my results started picking up.

4 months in for me after changing from xolair so they have only just stated reducing my maintenance steroids from 10mg per day to 10/5 alternate days. Seems to be going well so far and haven’t had to boost my steroids at all which is an improvement. Really hoping that things continue to improve and I get off my maintenance completely 😁

I did notice an increase in allergies since coming off the xolair so more nasal symptoms but live live with that if asthma improves.

Best of luck to you

Fabulous. I’ve been on Mepo since November 18 and was on steroids almost every month prior to that. None since then and am reducing the dose of other drugs too. Had a wobble in April when I had a bad chesty cold but no steroids. For me with eosinophilic asthma so far so good feel loads better. Good luck 👍 x

Good luck with Mepo. I hope it works for you. I start mine on 26th June. I have eosinophilia asthma and bronchiectasis. I’ve been on steroids for 21 years and steroids dependant for the last 8 years. I am on 12.5 mg of pred daily which increases with infections. I am being told that I won’t probably be able to totally get off of pred as my adrenals have stopped working. How low has anyone got down to who has been steroid dependent for a lot of years.
