Newly diagnosed with brittle asthma and exhausted

I have had episodes of asthma since I was at school.

I have had tough year, after going to see my daughter's new house, previously owned by a cat lover.

I was there only a couple of hours on Mothering Sunday, back in March (UK).

I am still struggling. I have been back and forth for asthma appointments since April.

Brittle asthma dx yesterday as my asthma is still not under control.

I was surprised to discover I have brittle asthma. I always considered that I had mild asthma with flares caused by pollen and heavy colds.

Is it normal to feel exhausted? I am struggling to do pretty much anything nowadays. Oh, and I feel a little overwhelmed too.

Thanks for listening.

Yes it's all part of allergy triggered asthma for me.

Hi

Yes it does leave you exhausted you need to give yourself time to get over it. It is scary when you get an attack but it's important that you rest as it takes a lot out of your body.

Hope you feel better soon.

I can so totally relate to not being able to go to a loved ones' new house because it was previously owned by a pet owner! That is a constant problem for me.

It's so hard when an exacerbation like that kicks of months of suffering and struggling. My asthma is brittle too, I think. We don't use that label in the states but I googled it and I fit the criteria of the type 2 brittle asthma. I'm on so many meds and still uncontrolled. I just started Xolair and am really hoping it helps.

It is SO exhausting, I agree. The constant merry go round of feeling awful --> doctor's visits --> more meds --> feeling too tired to socialize or work --> feeling anxious and hypervigilant all the time --> more doctors visits ---> more meds is so overwhelming and all-consuming.

I empathize and you're not alone! Take good care and get some rest this weekend-
