Hi can anyone help please. I had a really bad flu virus over a year ago and from it I devoleped a barky cough which is on and off. I have been to the docs several times about it but he just keeps telling me it could be acid reflux or post nasal drip. I have had this bark for over a year now but doc dosent seem to care. I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever had a barking cough this long. Sometimes it goes away and then comes back when I'm feeling chesty or weezy. I'm on fostair 100/6 and also blue inhaler. Was tested for COPD as I used to be a heavy smoker but don't have it. Any help or knowledge would be appreciated.

Thanks

My asthma episodes usually begin with a barking cough, I never made the link until 4 years OK when I had the bark for weeks. I now take my reliever as soon as it starts, which usually clears it up. If it's been going on for a while I'd talk to your doctor, it's worth exploring if it is asthma related.

Try a decongestant, it seems to have stopped me coughing, or I suppose it could be a coincidence.
