Hi there, sound familiar, sorry your struggling. My symptoms were and still are from time to time , mine are due to silent reflux( acid reflux) , possibly caused from king term steroids use , under investigation at the moment. Had to change diet, omeprazole regime, and included anti acids .... so the simple solution is to get yourself the your GP and let them have a look, it could be something different causing yours, but reflux and asthma sometimes go hand in hand xxxxx

Can I ask as I have ENT appointment Wednesday does silent acid reflux cause mucus at back of throat and nasal stiffness. Been on beconase for just over 2 weeks and at night I sometimes find it difficult to swollen..only started since being prescribed spiriva end of January don't know if that is a coincidence

hi , you will have to check it out with the doctors , but I believe that spireva can affect the sphincter that holds down the acid in the stomach , so acid reflux is more likely : I’m on spireva too, that’s why I’m under investigation , and yes I struggle with all those things : and it could be a number of things causing it . Once they’ve found the cause, if they do, , I’ve already accepted there maybe nothing they can do : sometimes the drugs we have to take keep us well, mean we have to work hard on reducing the side effects as best we can : if it’s all related the ENT docs should pick up where the related problem is if you explain everything to them : hope all goes well

What are your symptoms ?

in reply to Kiiam

Thank you for your response..it is a nuisance.

I was going to reply with the same as Kiiam,

Silent reflux (LPR) can cause mucus and nasal problems but as you say it only started since being on spiriva it might me worth investigating that line first.

You shouldn’t stop taking medicine without speaking to your doctor : it may cause

flare upo f your asthma cxx as I ya it can be a number of things , let them eliminate things and get to the root cause , they have put you on medication for a reason, and will assess the situation properly xxxx❤️

Silent Reflux is helped by taking Gaviscon Advanced. I take it for SR.

I had no idea Spiriva causes reflux. I've had Spiriva for a few months and started getting reflux some time ago, it started gradually so I didn't really notice it at first. Now every evening/night I have terrible nausea and often have to run to the bathroom thinking I'm going to be sick, though as yet I haven't been. Also every evening I get hiccups that sometimes can go on for half an hour or more, it can feel like I'm going to pull a muscle because it won't stop. It's horrible! Could this be being caused by Spiriva??
