Yes I was for a couple of years! I was going to suggest to my consultant at Addenbrookes we try back to 3 times a week. "Oh no we don't need it at all". Yeah that went well 🙄. Local consultant put me back on it!
My consultant tried me on it daily for 6 months to see if it would help reduce my admissions. Has just been stopped as didn't seem to make much difference for me, but hopefully will for you
I have. Also 500 and 750. In addition to killing off a bacterial based respiratory infection, this drug has some positive benefit for asthma that isn’t completely understood yet.
I’ve been taking azithromycin 250 od since 2009. The only time this changes is when I develop an infection. It has definitely worked for me over the years as I was taking chest infections every month. My only bit of advice is that I’ve found it best to take it before bedtime, otherwise I was having horrendous stomach cramps when I took it in the morning.
Hello yes your right it's mainly 3 times a week but azithromycin can be taken 250mg 7 days a week instead of 500mg 3X it works differently on each body's it didn't work for me built a resistance I'm on septum know it's hard my friend but your consultant trys to see what combination works for you and best and quicks way I think is in hospital anything help us there not at home rattling in that way my consultant is great you need to give atleast 10 days to see if it's working with you take care
I have been taking azith 250mg for 6 out of seven days a week now for about 9yrs...
I started with the usual 500mg x3 times a week but I found that it upset my stomach so my cons suggested spreading the dose.
I would also agree that it’s better taken at night too! This helps to avoid some stomach problems if you are prone.
I think it has been great for my asthma and infections and also has some anti-inflammatory benefits too.
I do alternate between azith and septrin if my stomach gets too problematic but then switch back once things have settled. My cons let’s me decide what I need to do.
I hope it works for you as it has for me... I rate it as one of my most useful asthma meds!
Take care 😊😊
I take 250mg Azythromycin daily, have done for several years. Consultant checked my antibody levels for resp bugs and found some were low so I had a couple of vaccinations which brought the levels up. Since then have had almost no chest infections so I stop taking Azithromycin in summer months then restart in autumn. That seems to work for me.
