Ashma is a difficult disease anything can trigger off a attack dont know how old you are all I can advise Im in my 60s had asthma all my life you learn to handle it as best as you can by avoiding situations e.g. not drinking to much alcohol ,keep your mouth covered with a cotton fabric scarf when outdoors if cold ,taking hayfever tablets if you are visiting people with animals, dont wash your hair in winter just before going out ,spray all perfumes at the back of your neck and lastly you must remember to step up your preventers soon as you feel your breathing is getting worse and lastly take your relievers and rest as much as you need to feel better hope just a few ideas helps ive learned not to be scared I just live with it as best as I can .

Hi there - you are right that asthma can be a terrifying disease to have, but with the right medication & support, you can reduce the risks & problems. If you haven't already done so, give the AsthmaUK nurses a call & talk through what has happened to you, then follow that up with a visit to the asthma specialist (probably a nurse) at your GP surgery. Although no-one on here is really qualified to give you medical advice, we have a lot of experience between us of managing asthma in all its forms, so fire away any questions or worries you have & there will be no shortage of good advice for you :)

I Agree With What Greggs & Minushabens, Said I’m Also 60 and Have Had Asthma Since I Was 7 Yrs Old, Once They Find the Right Meds, You Should Be as Right as Rain! Ventolin & Clenil Modulite Are My Go To’s, at Least When I’m Out, Because Since the Meno I’ve Been Having Breathing Probs On & Off Due To Thyroid Probs, Where My Pumps Don’t Work Well Enough So I Also Have To Use Ventolin & Atrovent Nebules In My Nebuliser/Asthma Machine! Hope This Helps!

I had asthma since I was 5 it gotten worse since I became a teenager and adult. I had minor flareups but when it first got worse it was in 2009. Than in 2012 it gotten worse where I was on ventilation for while it was breathing for me. Since than I attacks after aftacks I been hospitalized several times and to think I should be used to it by now I'm not it's scary every single time. And it's hard some people don't understand unless you're going through it. I keep positive thoughts and pray about it.
