I probably know the answer to this as I’m typing it, but I guess I’m just looking for some reassurance. I had a bad attack on Wednesday and I do feel my recovery has been made worse/delayed by the fact that the paramedic wouldn’t put me on a neb straight away as she said my wheeze was coming from my throat and not my chest. Long story short, I eventually had a neb and they gave me hydrocortisone at the hospital after I’d been wheezing for about two and a half hours! I’m guessing the fact that I’d been wheezing for this long without any help is why it seems to be taking me longer to recover, I just feel weak, tired, achy and like my head is floating somewhere above my body! 😂 I usually get this and put it down to the physical side effects of the attack and the medication but this time it just seems to be lasting longer and I’ve usually ‘bounced back’ by now.
Any reassurance/advice, especially how to get rid of my aching legs and ribs would be gratefully received!

I wouldn't know for sure, but there could be different reasons for the rib and leg aches. I often get a feeling not dissimilar to a mild version of a fractured rib when my breathing is bad, which I put down to muscle strain brought on by the extra exertion. That usually works itself out over a few days. I have occasionally pulled muscles in my chest from coughing as well, although that's more of a persistent, sharp sort of a pain.
The leg problem might be more medication-related. I'm on prednisolone long-term & my legs permanently feel like I've just run a marathon (at least I assume so, not ever actually having run one). If you've been given a fairly strong dose of steroids that could be the reason.
I'm only guessing here of course - as always, have a word with a medic if it persists.
Yeah the leg aches feel like I’ve done leg day at the gym! I usually get the aches from the medication but it doesn’t usually last this long. Will see how it goes and if it continues I’ll get it checked out.
I do get aching ribs after an attack but since you mention legs as well.as ribs...when I got that combination it's because I was Vit D deficient. Has anyone checked that for you? It seems fairly common especially in winter and appears to affect leg and rib bones most. I now take a supplement in winter (just Vit D as I get enough calcium).
Might not get rid of all of it - still get the chest aches due to asthma - but may be worth looking into if no one has checked.
It could be you were anxious and over breathing which can make your ribs ache , I get it too and don’t talk about leg pain , annoying or what . Try to relax and when your sitting put some pillows to side of ribs to rest . Xx💖🦋🌹😘
I probably was as I knew the paramedics weren’t treating me the way I needed. Yes, the leg pain is so annoying! Thank you, I’ve got one of those u shaped pillows for when I’ve been bad and I sleep with that under my ribs xxx
I thought maybe that was problem I have had it from overbreathing and when I get bronchitis from coughing . U shaped pillow oh where can I get one please can you drop me a pm if you remember where you got it from . Hope you feel better soon love and hugs 😘🤗😇
Thank you. I got the pillow from Dunelm, it’s great for propping yourself up in bed as you can put it behind your neck but it’s great to cushion your ribs when they’re sore. My friend gave me the idea when she was talking about maternity pillows that fit under your bump! Thanks for your help xxx
That’s ok anytime . I’m off to Dunelm this week , it’s really nice to have something to put next to something that’s hurting. My night time pillow is a very thin but I can put it around either side of my neck and it really helps xx😘🤗😇
